The novel “Adam Klakotsky and His Shadows” by Ihar Babkou has been published. Publisher Ihar Lovinau happily holds it in his hands here.

The novel, consisting of twelve stories from the life of the courageous enlightener and encyclopedist Adam Klakotsky, is a classic work of post-classical Belarusian literature, in which local reality is viewed through the magical crystal of day and night dreams. The third, expanded edition of the novel contains two new stories—Autumn in Hrodna and Holes—as well as the editor's notes, which, upon closer inspection, turn out to be the notes of an unknown reader that the author found in Klakotsky's archive in 2023. In the afterword by Franciszek N., the postcolonial concept of the hallucinogenic presence of the self as the other is used for the first time in Belarusian literary studies.

Ihar Babkou is a Belarusian writer, philosopher, and translator. In the 1980s, he was associated with the independent literary groups Babylon and Die Hiesigen. Long-time editor of the magazine Fragmente. As a philosopher, he is primarily concerned with postcolonialism. Award-winning author of poetry collections, short story collections, and novels.
