Adam Klakotsky and his Shadows

Author

Ihar Babkou

About the book

The novel in twelve stories from the life of the courageous enlightener and encyclopaedist Adam Klakotsky is a classic novel of post-classical Belarusian literature, in which local reality is viewed through the magical crystal of day and night dreams. The third, expanded version of the novel contains two new stories - Autumn in Hrodna and Holes - as well as the editor's notes, which on closer inspection turn out to be notes by an unknown reader found by the author in Klakotsky's archive in 2023. In the afterword by Franciszek N., the postcolonial concept of the hallucinogenic presence of the self as the other is used for the first time in Belarusian literary studies.
